Developer Fees

Those needing to turn in developer fees must do so by appointment only.

We are available to sign and collect developer fees by appointment only, Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. 

Please email Kelley Songer at ksonger@ramonausd.net or call 760-787-2031 to schedule an appointment and receive your fee calculation. Please include your approval sheet and/or project number with all other relevant information in your email, or have the information ready when calling. 

Make your check payable to RUSD and include the Project Number in the memo on your check.

Developer Fee Rates

At its regularly scheduled Board Meeting on June 10, 2021, the Governing Board adopted Resolution No. 2020-21-22, approving an increase in developer fees, to become effective August 9, 2021. New rates are:

Commercial/Industrial New Construction - $ 0.66 per square foot

Residential New Construction - $4.08 per square foot

At its regularly scheduled Board Meeting on October 10, 2022, the Governing Board adopted Resolution No. 2022-23-11, approving an addition of developer fees for Indoor Agriculture Projects, to become effective December 10, 2022.  This new rate is:

Agricultural Indoor Construction - $0.563 per square foot

Additional Information on Developer Fees

Projects that total 500 square feet or less are exempt from school fees.  Non-habitable areas such as barns or personal storage may be exempt from school fees.  Other exemptions may include religious facilities, and federal, state or local government facilities.  Reconstruction of destroyed or damaged buildings may also be exempt. 

Demolitions

You may receive square footage credit if a building has been demolished in relation to the planned new construction.  To receive credit, you must submit the following:

  • Proof that the building has been demolished.
  • Copy of the Residential Building Record obtained from the Tax Assessor’s office located at 200 S. Magnolia Avenue, El Cajon, California (Telephone: 619-401-5700)
